  1. 所以我昨天打,87和21分net Stableford game, and came in 3rd out of 10 in my flight and won a few bucks, but that’s not the story. I dodged(?) a bullet yesterday. We were playing the par 5 15th hole and my cart mate and I were left off the fairway by his ball. The other cart was in the fairway, a bit behind us. When one of them hit, I told my buddy to get his club, I’d go to my ball with the cart, and come back for him after we both hit. I really wasn’t paying attention to what was going on behind me, as I hadn’t noticed a second ball alongside their cart. I stopped, got out and as I was taking a club out of my bag, I heard a whack. I was then struck by a golf ball on my left side, about 5 inches below my nipple area. I’ve never been shot, but I can’t imagine it feeling any different. The pain was incredible. The guy smoked the ball, and I was no more than 15 yards ahead of him. It took me a few minutes to recover, and a welt formed right away, but I was able to swing without pain and finish my round. Normally I’d be shaking after something like that, but instead I felt extremely grateful. If the ball had struck me by my heart, I might be dead according to a doctor in our group. If it had struck me in the head, or my pretty face? I don’t even want to think about that. I don’t know if there are rules here regarding religion, so if you’re not be a believer, please forgive me for mentioning Him here, but I have to say I thanked God a bunch of times yesterday, and again today.
  2. Members league yesterday, and it was my first round in a week due to my back acting up again. Ironically I started off really well with 6 pars in my first 7 holes (the one “other” was a sloppy triple on a par 4). I knew it wouldn’t last though as my back was getting tighter with every hole, and sure enough it didn’t. I stumbled in with 42-46-88 which was good enough to take second in the low net portion. The only reason I cashed was having only 12 A players due to a combination of people still being away for Easter, and a lot of the winter residents having gone back up north. I had my first bad day with my new irons in the 5 weeks I’ve had them and I’m not sure how much of that is due to my inability to put a decent swing on the ball because of my back and how much was simply my lack of talent. In a perfect world I’d have been at the range today or tomorrow figuring that out, but I really need to feel a bit looser before I can start banging a bucket of balls. It’s frustrating this issue keeps popping up especially when I’ve been playing well, but it things could be a lot worse I guess. Next up is my Saturday money game. Fingers crossed things will improve.
  3. We have Love, Dye, Fazio and Norman courses. I struggle the most on Fazio because the first 4 holes on the back 9 are totally in my head, but I listed them in what most people consider the order of difficulty. Personally, I’d go Fazio, Love, Dye, Norman.
  4. I’ve been on a really good streak in our members league, and that continued today as I took first place low net (also finished second in gross but can’t cash in both) in the A flight with an 84 on our Love Course, which is the most difficult of the 4 at my club. I had one horrendous hole, taking a quad 8 and three doubles though, which proves nothing about this game comes easy to me, even when I’m playing well.
  5. 啊。不是一个美好的一天。我的联盟du旅行的一天e to inability to get 52 tee times at home today (peak season down here now) and we played Eagle Nest, a very nice layout that hasn’t been kept up well at all. They didn’t overseen, so the fairways were a disaster, and the greens were, to be kind… inconsistent. There was a huge mixup by the starter that i don’t want to get into, but let’s just say I was fuming when I had to join a 4some when they were already on the 1st green, and after arguing with them while they drove me there, was told the best they could do was let me play the 1st hole when I completed my round. I let that get in my head, and actually 3 putted the second (my first) hole from 3 feet. It was downhill from there, as I was unable to figure out the greens all day. Nobody really scored well on a lousy course with winds gusting up to 20mph as net 76 won low net in the A flight.Sadly I was nowhere near that, shooting a 92 net 82 and finishing out of the money. Just an annoying day all around that only made me appreciate the club where we live and play even more than I normally do. We did get a good laugh when the superintendent there told us their plan is to get the course to have a Pinehurst type look, with sandy areas bordering the fairways. This course has been “working on improvements” for about 4 years now, with little progress, so it was pretty funny when one of our guys told him “there’s no way you’ll live long enough to be around to see that happen.”
  6. try the KBS shaft, it’s a no upgrade option with Tour Edge E series irons. I was going with the Tensei AV until my buddy told me how highly his fitter recommended KBS and how happy he was he listened. They’re both very good shafts, but I’m so happy he told me to try them. From what you post here, and the conversations we’ve had, I think we’re very close in profile both tempo and distance wise. You’ve taken a lot of time to find a head that’s right for you, why leave a stone unturned when you don’t have to?.
  7. CK, , I’ve never hit the 723’s, but I assume they’re pretty much the the same as my 722’s. If you decide to go with tour edge, maybe consider those and saving a few bucks?
  8. Our Tuesday members league played the Barefoot Resort Fazio course yesterday, and it’s like Groundhog Day every time I play it. Really good front 9, then I blow up on 10-13, and after that get back on track. I shot 40 on the front, then went double, double, par, triple before finishing one over on the final 5. I shot net 73(2 over) to take second place.. I’ve been living here 12 years, and we have four courses. There is no other stretch of holes in the complex that beat me up like those four do, and I’ve tried everything… I just can’t figure them out. At this point it’s something everyone jokes about as soon as the pairings are sent out.
  9. Way too much good news in here, let me spoil the mood. As @MattWillGolf will surely attest, it was another really cold day down here. A frost delay in the middle of March? Ugh. After winning 3x and taking 2nd the last 4 weeks in my Tuesday members league, I birdied 2 of the first 6 holes on the Love Course in Barefoot. I actually thought to myself “my days of struggling on a golf course are over!” Hah! Not so fast, Johnny boy. The wheels came off on the back 9 and I closed my round with a triple bogey 7 on 17 followed by a “I’m picking up, give me a 10 after dunking my second ball in the water on 18. At that point, it didn’t matter whether I finished or not. I crawled in with my tail between my legs, finishing with a 93. After a few scotches in the clubhouse, I was numb enough to not care. I’ll chalk today up to one of those days we have that keeps us humble. On a happier note, I never thought I’d successfully replace my Yes! Tracy putter, but a few months ago I bought a Cameron 5.5… this thing is amazing. I love it. (Wait… I didn’t just jinx myself again, did I?)
  10. No sympathy from me, my friend. I’m dying to shoot one of those “difficult 80’s” again.
  11. My event hot streak continued today in our Tuesday Members league. The temps never got above 45*(wtf?) and 20 mph winds, but I got through it, shot 83 with 3 doubles. That was good enough for low net in our A flight. The last 3 weeks I’ve finished 1st, 1st and 2nd. I finally feel like things are getting back to where I want them to be with my game after a horrible 5-6 month stretch of golf last year. The big difference has all been from 100 yards and in, as my wedge game has mysteriously returned from wherever the heck it went to. It’s amazing how having a little confidence in my short game has freed up my swing with my other clubs, and although my putting has never been my problem, I’m now giving myself much better, shorter looks at the hole and two putting for pars instead of bogeys.
  12. Give ‘em hell Rick! Seems like there’s been a little drama going on down in the Villages lately, buddy.
  13. Check out Hreaski.com. They’re a lot more affordable, and made of better material than Loudmouth. They make nice shirts and shorts also. Two things… try to get the ones with the stretch waistband, as they run a little small, and keep an eye out for their sales. ( even at full price they’re cheaper than most out there.)
  14. Rich, “I can’t begin to imagine how much fun it must be playing with someone writing a novel during a round of golf”… said nobody ever.
  15. Rick, don’t take this the wrong way, because I’d be happy shooting even par on a putt putt course, but are these scores on Executive courses or are you ramping up for a run on the Champions Tour?
  16. What shafts do you have in the C722’s? I have KBS graphite in my E722’s and I’m getting a nice high ball flight along with really good distance.
  17. Strange day at the office, I played the Fazio Course at Barefoot (par 71) today 1 birdie. 6 doubles and still shot 85. (yes that’s right, @CarlH 6 doubles. Try and top that!) We played low net low gross and I won some shop credit taking second in the A flight net. My cap isn’t where I’d like it to be, but I’m in a good spot as far as making money goes. I’m right on the dividing line for the A and B flights. If I play decently I’m hard to beat in net if I’m in the A, and I’m hard to beat in gross if I have to move down to the B.
  18. @Kenny Bknows me better than I know myself apparently. I PM’ed @cksurfdude earlier today and told him I hit the E722’s and a few other irons today. The PGASS has them on closout for $499 with KBS graphite shafts. I told him I’d have traded in my irons on the spot if they had a set in LH but alas they didn’t. It seems I’ve become a certified club ho, because I couldn’t let that be the end of it. I had to go online, and well…. Just look at my updated signature below. The 30 day money back guarantee was too tempting, and after all, it is “next month” Kenny!
  19. 与我相同的事情和我7 w。我终于one a few weeks ago, and I like it, but I feel less stress standing over the Hy-wood. Maybe I’m just not used to the 7W yet, but IMO the Hy-wood is just easier to hit.
  20. You made a smart move buying the Hy-wood. It’s a terrific club. I struggle with FWs, but I’m stubborn as a mule so I keep trying to find clubs that work in that spot between my driver and 4H Nothing ever beats out the Hy-wood. I could (and probably should) just go D, Hy-w, 4h but I seem to be having some success with my 3HL… hopefully that continues. The Hy-wood is my go to though because how easy it is to hit from the turf. An added benefit is the high ball flight you get. I’ve always loved hybrids, but I noticed as I got older my 18* or 19* 3H’s were going a nice distance, but I was hitting low screamers that ran out quite a bit. That was fine on a wide open hole, but it was a recipe for disaster when I needed to clear water or a waste area. The Hy-wood seems to be the answer for me. I get a much higher flight with it than I do with both the 5W and a normal 3H. As far as distance, I think it is just a little shorter than a well hit 5W, but your overall yardage with the Hy-wood should be much more consistent, and have less dispersion because of how easy it is to hit.
  21. We played a two man net best ball today, and each team consisted of an A and B player. My partner got 26 shots from the Senior tees, but ended up the star of the day. He shot 45 (net 32) on the front, and 51 on the back, but kept us in 3rd place with a 7 net par on 18. We got home in net 63 and split $80 I had two birdies, and shot 88 with two ugly triples on 9 & 18 ( I simply can’t finish a clean 9 holes without screwing up somewhere along the way, and it’s getting frustrating. Other than that, I played very well on a very windy day. My league tried something new today. We used an app called Golf Game Book. You enter your (and your teams) scores after each hole and it will adjust to net. The coolest feature though is the live scoring leaderboard. You see exactly what every other player in the field gets on a hole, and lets you know where you or your team stands at all times. It was really fun, and made things very interesting down the stretch. It’s free, and I suggest any of you who play in a league, have the person who runs yours look into giving it a try. Once he sets up the game, he’s basically done. After the last group enters their scores on their final hole he has the results for the field. No more going over everyone’s scorecards and trying to decipher their handwriting, lol.
  22. 我终于to play today for the first time in a while. I was very happy with how I played overall, No birds, but a bunch of pars. I shot 43-43-86 with a triple on the front and the back. Both were from the middle of the fairway, one on a par 5 when what I thought was a perfect PW came up 15yds short into the wind plugged in a bunker from where hilarity ensued, and a shank on a par 4 that ended up in jail at the base of a bush. I tried to hit it out right handed with my 8, and ended up in just as bad a spot about 5 yards away. Took a unplayable and… ugh. All in all though I hit the ball pretty well and made a few bucks in shop credit. It was also great to see my buds for the first time in over a month. I’m not much of a drinker, but today I stayed a little later than usual afterwards, and had a couple of scotches (maybe one too many) but what the heck!
  23. They’ve raised their prices a bit this year, but they’re still pretty reasonable. I’ve never hit one of their clubs, but I’m very impressed with all the shaft options they offer.
  24. Man, I love the look of that club! If only I could delete my post from yesterday about having no interest in buying any new clubs….
