  1. Good luck Mark! Sounds like a great time and fun way to get the competitive juices flowing. I'm sure you've already mapped the courses and your strategy but if not bluegolf has some good online maps. Crosswinds is one of the best on the cape and very memorable as you will see. Oooo-rah!
  2. 同样我在一个退伍军人节比赛t Franklin Country club outside of Boston; Veteran's Day here can be gorgeous or nasty and in this case it was 40s with wind and you couldn't feel your fingers by the back 9 We won the tournament because everyone else gave up and went inside. Out of our foursome I think I was the only one that played the last 3 holes. Marines never quit.
  3. I have 2 big driving range mats that I bought used. Cut holes in each and inserted 1. - Country club elite strip. 2. Fiberbuilt flight deck. Best thing ever. I was getting serious elbow pain just hitting off the mats themselves. I like the Fiberbuilt a bit more but both have eliminated any pain whatsoever.
  4. pics! we want pics! sounds like your wrapping that left thumb instead of keeping it down the shaft? just curious - do you have large hands/long fingers?
  5. they're not quite ready to launch yet according to the email but sounds like it will be soon. I set out to create a video masterclass. Many of you have expressed being coached by me directly, and doing this course was the best way to offer it (since there is only one of me). Initially, I tried doing it myself, presenting slides on my computer. But I wasn't happy with the results. So, I've been working with a production company for several months to create a more professional, polished presentation. And I am ready to give you a sneak peek at the finished product. You can check out the official trailer for the Four Foundations of Golf Masterclass here. We are putting the finishing touches on the website right now, and it will be available for purchase very soon. In addition to the core course, I am building a bonus library with content from other coaches I trust. You'll get access to recorded conversations, video practice drills, performance games, and more. With the introductory offer, you will get lifetime access and benefit from any further upgrades I make to the course over time. Stay tuned for an email in the next several weeks announcing the course launch with the special offer for the first students. Have a great day, Jon
  6. got 2 dozen Maxfli's in the bag for the season and am impressed so far. 35 per when buying 2 dozen and they are neck and neck with my PV1x.
  7. I got Jon's book for Christmas and devoured it. Well done and some really great advice in there. He's starting a video series and he does a good job of putting things into perspective. His first video is out and IMHO worth a watch:
  8. well, certainly "HOT!" and whenever something is hot there are plenty of firefighters around here! I do agree with your statement: aiming based on their natural swing path I think once you try to do something that isn't natural your body fights against you. But I played with a guy years ago who had a horrible slice and would align 40 degrees left of target because he knew that was the only way he could hit the fairway. If he adjusted his swing path he would have hit it longer and straighter.
  9. I play basketball twice a week; probably shouldn't since I'm too old and injuries come more frequently and last longer. I caught a knee in my upper thigh as I was driving to the basket and it is the most painful deep muscle bruise I've had in some time. Serves me right for going in to the paint. I should just stay outside and shoot where it's safer.
  10. Raymond Floyd told Tiger in this video to get the heel as high as you can when chipping. Sound advice that I've tried and it works; but I agree with @Kenny B, hard to problem solve without knowing what's causing the problem
  11. +1 on Mobile clubmaker - he helped me reshaft a set of irons. easier than I expected.
  12. hey gang - just found this guy's channel and all he discusses is strategy. one of the things that really helped me was his video on what to do during a round if things start to go sideways. I watch too many youtube vids and have stopped the swing advice ones (for the most part ) but his advice on strategy was something I thought was unique and worth sharing. https://www.youtube.com/@upbeatgolfer/videos
  13. an idea: keep your irons, get a 3 or 5 pack of lessons at GolfTec or another place where you can get lessons and once you get your swing dialed in you can decide to keep your irons (they may be just fine!) or get others.
  14. woohoo! tags are back in stock if you need any - https://shotscope.com/us/products/accessories/golf-tracking-tags/
  15. this is one of the best short game videos I've ever seen (and I watch A LOT of youtube vids!) also a tip I heard that's worked for me is try 'softening' your left arm.
  16. Looks beautiful, but a warm-up hole? Not my thing I suppose. I think you should just get out and play. Maybe change it to a real 19th hole so if you finish crappy you have a second chance to walk away happy.
  17. PXG在弗雷明汉马看看去年开设了一个新的工作室er (20 miles west of Boston) and I thought they might have some sort of special and I was right. https://www.pxg.com/en-us/locations/boston.html Full bag fitting for 25.00 It was over the winter and figured at the very least I could get some sim time. As expected it's top notch. Interior is well done with beautiful decor and lighting. Apparel and bags and the studio was huge and well done. First stop was the putter area and you can swap out heads/shafts and if you've ever done a putter fitting it's pretty much what you'd expect (they use trackman). that was done rather quickly. Next we went into one of the studios and went top of the bag to the bottom and it was really enlightening. The fitter was a younger guy who had been in another department and was eager to get into the fitting studio and did a great job. Listened to all of my questions and was very accommodating. They had a special during the holidays and I could get all of the clubs with the bag and a free hat for around 2800- might have been a little less with my veteran discount. Probably not a bad deal (typical price is around 3300) but I let him know that was a lot to spend around the holidays and I'd have to think about it. He didn't give me a hard sell and printed out and emailed everything to me with all of the specs and let me know if I wanted to do a few clubs at a time that was good too. If I could have afforded it I definitely would have done it. I was fit into the gen5 P irons and they were amazing. I was pleased and didn't find any of the "PXG" arrogance that I had heard about. The clubs are great, the experience was great and I'd do it again.
  18. what a beautiful looking course and a dream for PGA tour bombers. Good thing JR is coming back to defend else the field would be very very weak. He must be exhausted; won the Masters and didn't take any time off. whew.
  19. ...as someone who recently went for a lesson to correct this, if you can get your swing path correct (which is a real thing) you will start to be more consistent and shoot lower scores. simply looking at the result of the shot isn't enough. I thought I was hitting it 'fine' but when I looked at the video my hand path was way outside. I've worked hard to fix that and move my hand path more inside and it's led to more GIR, better distance and more consistency and reliability. long story short: it's real and it matters!
  20. 40s/60s and a bit overcast but a great day to be alive! Happy Wednesday all.
  21. Season 6 of Better Call Saul is on Netflix now... final season.
  22. If I could climb to the top of the largest mountain in the world and scream this as loud as I could I would do it in a heartbeat: YOUR HANDICAP IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE GOLF SCORE It's just not. you should only beat it or even match it 20 percent of the time. that means 80% of the time you shoot higher than your handicap - sometimes a little sometimes a lot. Be happy when you play well even if you don't 'shoot your hcp'....
  23. apparently he has it at a precise angle so that the club gets into the proper position at the top.
  24. Yeah - it's 71 balls. That's a lot - too much really. But I think the point for me is that out of those 71 balls, 4 of them were driver and 3 wood. 41 of them were 8i, 56 and 60 degree wedge. I might hit a few more drivers but that concentration on the short game is key to scoring.
